Hawaii Holidays
They say Hawaii is a place that no one can visit only once in their lifetime. It is indeed true and the most practical reason for that can be the immense natural beauty that Hawaii has to offer, which is both unique and fragile. Hawaiis natural uniqueness is in being completely isolated from other land masses which makes its ecosystem fragile and yet beautiful.
Along with it, is the amazing geographical bounty that boasts places such as the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Hawaiis Big Island, the dizzy cliffs on the Napali coast on the Kauai island, historic sites such as the Pearl Harbor museum on the Oahu island, the Waikiki beach which is also a great place to hang around for sand sun and surf the fantastic beaches of North Shore which is a must visit destination for the serious surfer for the legendary surf that forms here, the Waimea Canyon and so much more. Hawaii is a place that one cannot simply hope to see in a single visit.
There are six major islands in Hawaii Oahu, which is the capital of Hawaii, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and Hawaiis Big Island. The starting point for most tourists coming into Hawaii is the Honolulu international airport in the capital city of Oahu. The Honolulu international airport being the major airport in Hawaii is connected with major airports in continental USA. Although you can travel directly to the other airports in Maui and Hawaiis Big Island but from Oahu you have connections to the rest of Hawaii.
Oahu
The first thing about your holidays in Hawaii is to decide what is going to be your destinations in the Hawaii holiday packages on offer. There are six major islands and each island is steeped in natural beauty that is awe inspiring. But we can start our Hawaii holidays with the island of Oahu which is the stepping stone to Hawaii. Oahu is the home to several botanical gardens chief among which are the Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden, Koko Crater Botanical Garden and the Foster Botanical Garden. The Arizona memorial is the location where the USS Arizona was sunk in the Pearl Harbor attacks in WWII. The over turned hull of the USS Arizona has now become a war memorial for the 1100 American sailors who lost their lives caught inside it.
The Nuuanu Pali lookout provides a stunning view overlooking the 985 foot cliffs of the Koolau Mountain Range. This place provides a panoramic view of the coastline and you can see the Chianamans hat (a cone shaped lava formation that resembles a Chinese peasants hat) from here. Apart from the view, this place is also famous for the battle that took place between King Kamehameha and the armies of Oahu.
Molokai
The island of Molokai has in store its pristine beaches, untamed natural beauty, a world which is far away from the tensions of city life which you will wish you never have to leave. Molokai the birthplace of the Hula, is a truly amazing destination that is tucked away in a corner of the pacific. A trek away from the coastline and in to the heart of the East End where the cathedral valley lies and you will have reached the most ancient of places in Molokai with the people living here coming to practice their religion as early as the 7th century AD. Take the mule trail and a guide to enter. About 2 miles into your trail you will be welcomed by the giant 250 foot Mooula Falls.
Another site of interest is the ingenious Hawaiian fishponds which were designed by the settling Hawaiians about 700 years ago to catch fish. The high tide would bring in fish which gets caught in the pond during the low tide and they were harvested as food for the royal family or the high priests.
Switch to central Molokai and the Kalaupapa National Historical Park welcomes you. A one and a half hour mule ride along cliffs as high as 1600 feet and the breathtaking views that mesmerize you all along, you reach the Kalaupapa town. This town and the national park is a close reminder of the tragic incident that lead to the death of Saint Damien.
Kauai
Kauai is the northernmost of all the islands of Hawaii and also the oldest. It houses some of the stunning natural phenomenon in Hawaii and is a much see destination for your holidays in Hawaii. Some of these such as the Towering cliffs off the Napali coast on the north shore are a sight to see. Take a boat trip or even a tourist airplane that will show you the panoramic view of the Napali coastline from a distance. In Kauai you can indulge in a bit of boating on the only navigable river Wailua. In order to see the grand canyon of the pacific you need to come to the Westside of Kauai for the Waimea Canyon.
